January until May can be full of mixed emotions for your students as they await a response from their chosen universities. Whilst most students will be feeling relief when their offers come in, some young people may receive unsuccessful applications from all institutions. Our advice – Don’t wait for Clearing!
UCAS Extra is a free service which allows students an extra choice if they have been made unsuccessful or have declined all 5 choices. If a student has only used 1 choice, then they must pay the extra £11 to use to service. Eligible students will see Extra as a button when they sign in to track their application.
Less than 2% of students used this free service last year and avoided the uncertainty for Clearing. The service is available between 25 February and early July, which could allow your students to breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy their Summer without the worry of what August could bring!
Use the Extra toolkit to find out more information on how this can support your students who need that additional choice.
